Performance vs. Competition: What's the Difference?

Every level builds on the last, with new choreography and technique at each step. All dancers by level take the same classes, taught by the same skilled instructors, at the same monthly rate. The only thing that changes is the level of commitment, and that's up to you.

These two groups aren't exclusive. A dancer in the Competition Group is welcome to join recitals and local performances too, and a dancer in the Performance Group can always add competition down the road.

Not sure which is right for your dancer? That's exactly what a free trial class and a quick chat with us is for!

NAPLES SCHOOL OF IRISH DANCE (Performance GROUP)

For dancers who want to learn, grow, and shine at recitals and local performances, with no feiseanna (competitions) required. You're placed in the level that matches your skill, and if you ever decide you want to compete down the road, you'll already have the choreography ready to go!

THE CARSON ACADEMY (COMPETITION GROUP)

THE CARSON ACADEMY (COMPETITION GROUP)

For dancers ready to compete, this group adds more structure: tracked attendance, at least eight feiseanna a year, and mandatory Carson Academy workshops, all designed to help dancers grow and move up through the levels. Competition dancers are also welcome to join our recitals and local performances.

We don't currently offer adult classes, but we'd love to start one! If you have a group of 5 or more people interested, let us know and we'll work on making it happen.

Yes, we have rolling admission. Tuition runs 12 months a year, with our class year beginning August 1. A one-time annual registration fee applies for new and returning students.

Yes! New students must complete enrollment paperwork (safety release, liabiltiy, etc.)  and pay the registration fee before beginning their free trial. We're happy to consider performances for private parties, community events, and weddings. Please e-mail us with your requested date, time, and venue address (and whether it's indoor or outdoor). Our St. Patrick's week schedule fills up quickly, so we recommend reaching out early.
